Quantity Surveyor – Project Controls Management
vConstruct, a Pune based international construction technology company is seeking estimators or quantity surveyors that have the ability or experience to review design information (drawings, specification and BIM) and be able to quantify various building scopes for the purposes of cost estimation, bid management, production tracking etc. Understanding and experience of building types such as hospitals, commercial office buildings, data centers, biopharmaceutical plants, life sciences, manufacturing and higher education buildings is preferred. This individual will be joining our cost estimation and bid management group as Project Engineer – Cost Estimation and Bid Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carefully study project drawings, details, RFIs, models and other documents. Identify any discrepancies or missing information.
- Develop high-quality, accurate quantity estimates as per the required format of construction.
- Develop quantity takeoffs for various disciplines like civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, low voltage etc.
- Develop 3D models from 2D design drawings to augment the quantity takeoff process.
- Understand and prepare the cost estimates out of the Quantity Estimates.
- Be able to identify changes between two different versions of design and report out the changes to the estimates in a comprehensible manner.
- Collaborate and effectively communicate with the estimators (in USA or other geographies (also mentioned as Onsite)) and align on the desired outcome of the request
- Advise the Onsite teams or customers on improvements in deliverable format, workflows or even estimated costs.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with the Onsite teams, customers and the team at vConstruct
- Leveraging the 3D Models into Processes – Being able to use the 3D Models and take insights from the Model to better execute the 2D Processes of Quantification as well as do the quantification directly from the Models.
- Understanding any new Scope of work, processes and platforms and coming up with an execution workflow and documenting it once approved with the project team. Further followed by training team members.
- Crisp communication with client/ Project team members overseas, in the medium of mails and meetings for understanding the requirements and clearing issues for the respective deliverables.
- Developing best practices and workflow and sharing them with team members
- Create and/or assist the project lead to quantify the effort for performing the quantity takeoff services for the projects.
Quantity Surveyor Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Engineering. Related field can also apply.
- More than 2 years of similar work experience is preferred, freshers can also apply.
- Ability to learn quickly and independently with minimal supervision
- A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude
- Basic ability to analyze data/ documents
- Ability to identify and resolve issues
- Effective participation in team environment
- Excellent listening skills and have strong communication skills
- Familiarity with the US, Europe and Indian Construction Documents and Terminologies
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel desirable
